From September 2007 Supermarket giants Tescos are going head to head with the motor insurance aggregators by launching its own price comparison site. The introduction of the site is great news for the price hungry motorists looking for cheaper motor insurance but there is genuine concern within the broking industry that their days are numbered. The price comparison companies are effectively creating a 21st century broking system that could quite easily see the end of the traditional motor insurance broker model

What a valid point. The problem with most motor insurance brokers is the fact they seem to be living in the past. I remember speaking to the owner of a big national insurance broker about three years ago and the topic of the internet came up. It was seen at the time as a bit far fetched and insignificant media because he believed that people who owned computers and used the limited resources of the internet were not really his target audience. Oh how he now must be re-thinking his beliefs in the future of motor insurance advertising

Im sorry to spoil the party but Tescos are destroying lives because they are monopolising every market place from groceries to petrol to electrical goods. Britain is on a downward spirall because of companies like this. If they are launching a price comparison site god help the commercial side of motor insurance and broking

The thing is Tescos simply dont care and they have been around for so long now accumulating more and more business they are only latching onto another highly lucrative business. Tesco motor insurance has been around for a while now so the implication of a supporting price comparison site will only do them even more favours
